Vice President of Product Engineering, 2 Hour Learning (Remote)
2 Hour Learning seeks a technically accomplished product leader to spearhead the modernization of our AI‑driven learning ecosystem. This executive‑level role blends the depth of a CTO with the agility of a product entrepreneur, overseeing architecture, technical strategy, and AI integration across our learning platform to unlock student achievement at scale.
We reconstruct the school model entirely, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations of traditional classrooms. Our students achieve extraordinary results—multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams, multi‑year academic acceleration within a single year, and regular performance breakthroughs. When AI acts as the foundational operating system, student success reaches exceptional levels.
What You Will Be Doing
Build and apply deep education product expertise to inform strategic direction.
Create technical specifications that establish critical decisions while prioritizing simplicity, operational efficiency, and sustainable long‑term design.
Deploy generative AI technologies to automate and optimize engineering workflows, minimizing manual effort.
What You Won’t Be Doing
Pure people management; the position relies heavily on business acumen and technical judgment.
Spending excessive time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead.
Proposing high‑level strategies devoid of actionable implementation; guidance must derive from product‑level understanding.
Vice President of Product Engineering Key Responsibilities
Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, owning foundational competencies and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership.
Basic Requirements
Substantial experience or demonstrated interest in data‑driven learning science.
7+ years of experience making critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including application of architecture design patterns or major open‑source technologies.
2+ years of experience making design decisions that involve cloud computing services (primarily AWS).
4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery ownership of a revenue‑generating product.
Experience developing product features that utilize advanced generative AI capabilities.
Experience leveraging generative AI to streamline and simplify work processes.

Working with us This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position, immediately available, and requires an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level is $200 USD/hour, equal to $400,000 USD per year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. Payment is weekly.
