Senior Azure-focused Cloud Engineer – Hybrid onsite 2–3 days per week in Cincinnati, OH (Eastgate Mall, Batavia) – 6 Month Contract to Hire – Must be Green Card or US Citizen.
Pay: $80–$90 per hr W-2 Conversion Salary ($150k – $160k)
CBTS is searching for a Senior Azure-focused Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain the cloud infrastructure that supports these systems. This role ensures reliability, performance, scalability, security, and operational continuity across multiple applications, environments, and services. You will be responsible for building the underlying platform that allows engineering teams to deliver features quickly and securely—while enabling the ecosystem to scale.
Responsibilities
Design and implement Azure-based infrastructure for:
Blob storage for media and timing data
Identity & Access Management (Azure AD / Managed Identity)
API Management (APIM)
Build secure, resilient, highly available cloud environments for production, staging, and development.
DevOps & CI/CD
Maintain GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps pipelines for:
Automated builds
Automated deployments
Database migrations
Artifact and container management
Support infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using:
Bicep
ARM
Terraform (optional)
Security & Compliance
Implement cloud security best practices:
Azure Key Vault for secret management
Role-based Access Control (RBAC)
Network Security Groups and firewalls
Managed Identities for services
Zero‑trust access flows
Manage API throttling, DDoS protection, and monitoring alerts.
Observability & Monitoring
Implement monitoring and alerting with:
Application Insights
API health
Errors
Throughput
Live event traffic (race‑day spikes)
Performance & Scalability
Tune SQL and App Service performance.
Support auto‑scaling rules for high‑demand racing events.
Optimize storage, cold/warm data tiers, and retention policies.
Operational Responsibilities
Manage incident response and root cause analysis.
Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
Work with backend/frontend teams on deployment readiness.
Enforce environment standards and configuration consistency.
Maintain cloud documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
Requirements Technical Skills
3–7+ years in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
Strong experience with Azure services:
VNETs, networking, firewalls
API Management
Key Vault
Monitoring & Application Insights
Experience with CI/CD:
GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
Deployment slots
Automated migrations
Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Bicep/ARM/Terraform).
Strong understanding of security, identity, and environment isolation.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with Clean Architecture and modular monolith patterns.
Understanding of real‑time systems (SignalR).
Experience with containerization (Docker) and Azure Container Apps or AKS.
Experience with Sports technology or IoT‑like hardware integrations.
SQL performance tuning experience.
Soft Skills
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work cross‑functionally with developers, designers, and leadership.
