Responsibilities
Upholds the missions and goals of The Crafts Center
Responsible for initial prioritization, troubleshooting, resolution, escalation, and timely response to user requests and issues
Provides support for the C:LAB members and students by answering technical questions, servicing and producing student works (e.g., 3D printing, engraving, etc.), offering workflow and data management suggestions, promoting the C:LAB on campus, and supporting instructors
Maintains, deploys, and supervises all computers, equipment and software in the C:LAB
Provides technology support for classroom instruction
Assists with password resets, accounts, permissions, and general network troubleshooting in cooperation with University IT
Maintains documentation for network, user applications, safety and use, and software
Works with Director to identify trends, roll out proactive projects and other duties as assigned
Manages C:LAB inventory, supplies, and materials
Works with Director and instructors to develop maker projects and expand curriculum
Provides orientation to new instructors and students
Provides, gathers, manages all documentation relating to user manuals, best practices, and health and safety expectations
Assures and maintains best practices related to student health and safety by teaching/conducting proper technique and supervision
Creates a warm and welcoming learning environment for students
Communicates clearly and professionally in a timely manner
Qualifications
Must be current NCSU Undergraduate student
Understanding of network infrastructure, hardware and software systems
Exceptional ability to learn new software and expertise with Adobe Creative Suite and CAD programs (Ruby on Rails, Trotec Jobs software, 3D printing software, etc.)
Exhibits professionalism, honesty, integrity and respect for everyone on campus
Possesses strong customer service skills including punctuality, professional dress, focused attention, and a positive attitude
Is a self‑motivated person with a problem‑solving curiosity
Ability to lift 50lbs and to walk up and down stairs
Work Schedule 100% In Person; 2–3 days/week (10–15 hours/week) some nights & weekends
Compensation $11–15/hour
