Base Pay Range $82.00/hr - $85.00/hr
The Principal Electrical Engineer serves as a key technical leader supporting all phases of new platform development—from concept and technology development through commercialization and post‑market support. This role involves architecting, designing, prototyping, testing, and releasing to production advanced electronic systems for medical devices, including consoles and disposables. The engineer will design circuit boards with embedded processors, RF communication modules, display interfaces, pump and motor controls, and develop test methods for amplifiers, antennas, and high‑frequency interconnects.
Responsibilities
Architect, design, and validate electromechanical systems and subsystems, including component selection, circuit design, and power distribution.
Develop and test electronic circuits using Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation.
Perform hands‑on prototyping, debugging, and testing using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and RF test equipment.
Design patient‑isolated and safety‑compliant electrical systems following IEC 60601 and ISO 13485 standards.
Lead verification and validation (V&V) activities, document results, and support production transfer.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to optimize design and performance.
Support testing in phantom, ex‑vivo, and in‑vivo environments, including RF/SAR field mapping.
Work with vendors and testing labs (NRTL) for certification and MRI compatibility.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience in electronics and system design, preferably in medical device development.
Proficiency in embedded systems, RF communications (Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, RFID), and electromechanical integration.
Strong experience with schematic design, PCB layout, power architecture, and safety standards.
Skilled in documentation, requirements definition, and test plan development.
Hands‑on experience in transferring designs to production and troubleshooting prototype systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with attention to detail.
