Responsibilities
GAAP Accounting & Compliance
– Own the month‑end close and produce accurate, timely GAAP financials for both entities. Maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation for GAAP compliance. Handle technical accounting issues including revenue recognition, accruals, consolidations, and debt accounting.
Financial Audit Management
– Lead the annual audit: prepare schedules, manage supporting documentation, and maintain audit readiness throughout the year.
Budgeting
– Oversee budgeting process and reconciliation. Ensure functions are meeting budget expectations, raise potential issues and update forecasts based on budget to actuals.
Financial Operations
– Oversee AP and AR workflows; ensure accurate coding, approvals, and timely processing. Oversee vendor onboarding, purchasing policies, and spend controls.
Payroll Management
– Manage payroll and ensure compliance across multiple U.S. states (with support from external payroll providers). Coordinate multi‑state compliance requirements (registrations, payroll tax, sales/use tax).
Cash, Debt & Working Capital Management
– Own short‑term cash forecasting, working capital analysis, and liquidity reporting. Maintain all debt schedules (venture debt + seller notes), including interest calculations, covenant tracking, and payment schedules.
Financial Systems Evaluation
– Evaluate, select, and implement financial systems (GL/ERP, billing, AP, payroll). Ensure data integrity, clean integrations, and streamlined workflows across the financial tech stack.
Corporate Structure and Filing Management
– Maintain state and local filing requirements as applicable. Help evaluate and recommend corporate legal structure to support business growth.
Qualifications
7+ years of accounting experience;
CPA required
(public accounting + startup experience strongly preferred).
Deep knowledge of GAAP, technical accounting, audits, and multi‑entity consolidation.
Experience managing payroll, AP/AR, and multi‑state compliance.
Strong understanding of cash flow, debt schedules, and working capital mechanics.
Systems builder who enjoys improving processes and implementing financial tools.
Hands‑on, detail‑oriented operator comfortable in a fast‑moving startup environment.
