Position Overview Arcadis is seeking an experienced Capital Project Engineer to support upcoming large capital projects at the client site located in Worcester, MA. The selected candidate will be responsible for the management and execution of project activities under the supervision of a Project Manager.
Responsibilities
Participate in conceptual and detailed design efforts by identifying scope, gathering user requirements, and providing comments on design packages.
Conduct regular contractor safety evaluations to ensure all construction safety requirements are met.
Review project submittals and RFIs to ensure alignment with AbbVie corporate specifications and industry best practice.
Update site drawings, system P&IDs, and other documents to record accurate as-built conditions.
Coordinate project activities with all internal and external parties to avoid negative impact on site operations.
Deliver periodic project status reports to internal stakeholders (internal customers, engineering, and plant management).
Interact with city inspectors and outside contractors as needed within the scope of assigned projects.
Provide daily oversight of all on‑site contractors for assigned projects, including scheduling, safety supervision, and liaison with site personnel.
Support startup of new equipment, including commissioning activities, field troubleshooting, and field support to site validation staff.
Qualifications & Experience
BS in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with 6‑8 years of relevant work experience.
Construction management experience for utility, process, equipment, and facility projects.
Excellent planning, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Strong teamwork and constructive relationship building across disciplines.
PMP certification is a significant advantage.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30‑hour qualification is a significant advantage.
Previous biotech/biopharmaceutical experience is a significant advantage.
Exposure to commercial construction activities and understanding of all trades.
General knowledge of pertinent building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection codes.
Training in construction management is a plus.
Ability to lift 25 lbs and work on active construction sites.
