We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist. The primary responsibility of the role is to act as the single point of contact for Environmental, Health and Safety compliance issues. The specialist will create and sustain a culture where safety comes first and employees are accountable for their own and their colleagues’ safety with support from management. The role oversees the daily activities that may impact the health or safety of the employees and/or the environment and works with employees from various departments to develop and monitor the impact of all manufacturing processes to assure proper reporting and compliance structures are in place.
The Specialist will also work with maintenance on proper handling and disposal of generated waste and may be called to act as an Auditor when needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety.
Monitor and report on the condition of Magellan Aerospace Haverhill’s Environmental, Health and safety conditions.
Gather data throughout the year to prepare and facilitate annual ISO14001 audits and address any corrective actions.
Work with all departments to meet and improve on Magellan Aerospace Haverhill’s Environmental, Health and Safety performance.
Coordinate the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for Corporate, Federal, State and local requirements.
Review the regulations and environmental management requirements and determine their applicability and impact.
Gather and analyze EH&S data culminating in report generation.
Propose and work on new tool creation and process improvements.
Coordinate all required EH&S training for all employees.
Maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS) Operating Procedures.
Facilitate 6S compliance in both the shop and office setting.
Maintain facility chemical inventories and associated safety data sheets (SDS).
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Environmental Sciences.
0‑5 years environmental experience, preferably in Manufacturing.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Must be team oriented, possess a strong work ethic, and maintain composure during times of stress or change, or while managing multiple priorities.
