Manufacturing Quality Manager
Billerica, MA - $130-150K + Bonus
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the Quality function for our manufacturing facility in the Greater Boston area. In this high-impact role, you will serve as the Management Representative for our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), driving product reliability and operational excellence. You will lead a cross‑functional team of engineers and inspectors, ensuring that our complex, engineered mechanical products meet rigorous customer specifications. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for a candidate with deep experience in metal fabrication and assembly environments.
Key Responsibilities
QMS Ownership:
Maintain and optimize the site's Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015), managing all external registrar audits and compliance requirements.
Team Leadership:
Manage, mentor, and develop a Quality team (including QE's and Inspection staff) to ensure daily operational goals are met.
Defect Reduction:
Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying failure modes in fabrication and assembly processes; lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action (CAPA) initiatives to reduce scrap and rework.
Customer & Supplier Quality:
Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality inquiries, non‑conformances, and surveys. Oversee supplier quality performance and source inspections.
New Product Introduction:
Partner with Engineering to oversee prototype development and First Article Inspections (FAI) to ensure successful product launches.
Operational Excellence:
Champion safety protocols and Lean Manufacturing/5S principles across the production floor.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Technical Discipline (Engineering preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing environment, including direct team leadership.
Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, joining processes, and electro‑mechanical assembly.
Expert proficiency in reading engineering drawings, GD&T, CAPA, and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
Proven track record of successfully managing ISO 9001 audits and maintaining QMS standards.
Strong communication skills with the ability to manage customer relationships and drive change on the manufacturing floor.
