Position Summary We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This role is responsible for designing, programming, developing, and supporting industrial control systems for our equipment and associated electromechanical machinery and processes. The Electrical Controls Engineer may also support system startup, testing, commissioning, and ongoing technical support for both hardware and software.
Role Expectations Entry-Level Expectations:
Demonstrate a strong foundational knowledge of controls engineering and the ability and desire to learn PLC programming and control system development as part of the Controls Group. This role provides hands‑on exposure to industrial automation systems, testing, and documentation under the guidance of experienced engineers.
Mid‑to‑Senior-Level Expectations:
Extensive PLC programming experience, ability to develop control narratives, program PLC software, perform functional testing prior to shipment, and execute on‑site startup, tuning, and commissioning activities.
Key Performance Indicators
A strong process‑based approach to product and project development
Contribution to next‑generation product designs that enhance performance beyond current offerings
Ability to prototype, test real‑world performance, and troubleshoot startup and commissioning issues
Job Responsibilities
Development and maintenance of automation products and control projects
Creation and maintenance of control narratives
PLC programming using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagrams
User interface (HMI) development
Development and execution of acceptance testing and commissioning proceduresAutomation and project documentation
Revision control and documentation management
Support and streamlining of existing products, as well as development of new products
Required Education Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Technology, or a related field.
Skills And Qualifications (Required)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams
Creative mindset with the confidence to propose new ideas and solutions
Ability to support and foster the growth and creativity of others
Preferred Expertise
Experience with Rockwell Automation software
Experience with Siemens systems
Experience with Phoenix Contact products
Experience with Modicon platforms
Testing, startup, and commissioning experience in an industrial environment
