Position Overview This leadership role requires a seasoned professional who can manage complex engagements, mentor staff, drive business development, and contribute to the strategic growth of the practice. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, exceptional client‑relationship skills, and proven leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage complex tax compliance and planning engagements for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting services including financial statement preparation and analysis
Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to optimize clients’ tax positions
Research complex tax and accounting issues and provide technical guidance to engagement teams
Review and approve tax returns, financial statements, and other deliverables ensuring accuracy and compliance
Stay current with federal, state, and local tax law changes and accounting standards
Supervise and mentor managers, supervisors, and staff accountants on assigned engagements
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for professional development
Participate in recruiting efforts including interviewing candidates and campus recruiting
Lead training initiatives and knowledge‑sharing sessions within the tax and accounting departments
Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes professional growth and excellence
Serve as primary point of contact for key client relationships
Identify opportunities for additional services and collaborate with partners on business development
Present complex tax and accounting concepts to clients in an accessible manner
Address client concerns promptly and maintain high levels of client satisfaction
Participate in client meetings, including year‑end planning sessions and quarterly business reviews
Assist in engagement planning, budgeting, and resource allocation
Monitor project progress and profitability while ensuring quality standards are met
Contribute to practice development initiatives and process improvements
Support business development efforts through networking and relationship building
Participate in firm‑wide committees and strategic planning activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred
CPA license in New York State required
Additional certifications (CMA, CFE, etc.) preferred
Minimum 7‑10 years of progressive experience in public accounting
Substantial experience with tax compliance and planning for various entity types
Strong background in accounting services including compilations, reviews, and audits
Previous supervisory and staff development experience
Experience with high‑net‑worth individuals and complex business structures preferred
