ROLE OVERVIEW The Flagship Experience Scoop Shop Manager oversees and leads the operations at the brand’s flagship scoop shop in Burlington, Vermont, and supervises the Vermont Catering business. The role is grounded in Ben & Jerry’s 3‑part mission and focuses on creating excellent guest experiences, communicating effectively, achieving sales growth, maintaining appearance and compliance, and fostering a fun, safe, professional high‑energy environment. The Manager reports to the General Manager of VT Brand Experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee and lead the Burlington Scoop Shop flagship operations, including daily operations, communications, payroll and staffing, and supervise Vermont Catering.

Supervise the VT Catering Manager and Assistant Managers, conducting 1:1 conversations, growth & development, and corporate performance plans.

Lead all hourly staff (≈50 part‑time employees), ensuring hiring, orientation and onboarding.

Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Scoopers United, including frequent communications, monthly meetings and negotiations.

Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports and hourly staff.

Work with the Hospitality General Manager to prepare departmental budgets, finance reporting and generate profit/loss statements for forecasting.

Plan and implement the store marketing plan to drive top‑line sales and brand awareness.

Identify and resolve problems from customers and staff that affect operations.

Collaborate with corporate retail operations on new products and messaging that enhance the flagship experience.

Schedule all staff, communicating advanced notice and ensuring safe staffing of all operations.

Partner with Retail Operations and Scoop University to ensure flagship operations align with corporate guidelines.

Develop and implement training and orientation for employees, emphasizing excellent customer service.

Oversee daily financials for hospitality operations: cash management, bank procedures, inventory, register accuracy, sales and inventory reports and analyses.

Maintain accurate daily cashing in/out of registers, sales‑to‑cash reconciliation and daily sales summary reports.

Participate in store planning and development meetings with the General Manager, department managers and other company meetings.

Manage inventory ordering, receiving, storage, logging and invoice tracking.

Lead special projects assigned by Retail Operations and Brand Experience teams.

Participate in first aid and emergency response; serve as onsite manager during emergencies and support safety goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Highly professional, patient, energetic, team‑oriented, positive “can‑do” attitude and strong customer‑service commitment.

6+ years’ hospitality or customer‑service experience, with supervisory experience in retail or food‑service.

Flexible work hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Experience in high‑volume, fast‑paced retail.

Experience managing a unionized workforce.

Proven ability to motivate, develop and inspire people.

Strong accounting/finance experience and understanding.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision‑making skills.

Experience handling customer complaints and providing effective guest‑service recovery.

Strong follow‑through, organization and time‑management skills.

Strong project‑management and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to remain calm under stress and react to emergencies.

Self‑motivated, autonomous, proactive, responsive to anticipate and fulfill customer and staff needs.

Computer proficiency – Excel, Word, Outlook, SalesForce.

Valid driver’s license.

Physical stamina: handling large items, bulk containers, supply orders, cleaning, maintenance and standing for extended periods.

PAY, BONUS & BENEFITS Pay range: $58,700 to $86,280 per year. The position is bonus eligible.
