Front Desk Receptionist (TAY Health and Wellness Center) The Transitional‑Age Youth (TAY) Health and Wellness Center (TAY HWC) needs a Front Desk Receptionist who greets and welcomes all visitors to 888 Post Street, San Francisco, CA. The successful candidate will maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, especially for transitional‑age youth seeking support and services.

Base Pay Range $27.88/hr – $27.88/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome, check‑in, and direct visitors to the appropriate person, resource, or area accurately and professionally.

Help administer required sign‑in logs, intakes, assessments, surveys, and other data‑collection workflows for visitors.

Maintain a clean and welcoming environment in the entry, reception, and waiting areas.

Perform routine office support tasks such as data entry into Salesforce, managing mail and deliveries, posting notices, coordinating the conference‑room reservation calendar in Outlook, and providing basic technical assistance for printers and photocopiers.

Receive, track, respond to, and route incoming phone calls, radio calls from GLIDE staff, emails, and other communications promptly and professionally.

Respond to routine program and operations questions about the TAY HWC and regularly update information, resources, and service materials at the front desk for the general public.

Monitor all activity in and out of the facility, including operating the main security door system, monitoring security‑camera feeds, and regulating pedestrian traffic flow in and out of the Center for safety.

Work with the Shift Lead, Program Navigator, and Safety Monitor to prevent, deescalate, and intervene in critical incidents.

Work with the TAY HWC staff to respond to emergencies according to established policies and protocols.

Document and communicate safety and security concerns to TAY HWC management.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.

Experience working in a social‑service environment with unhoused individuals who may have complex needs such as mental illness, substance use, trauma, or community violence.

Excellent interpersonal skills and customer‑service abilities to welcome and direct all incoming visitors and to treat others with respect, cultural humility, and patience.

Proficient in using computer systems for routine work functions such as typing, internet research, document formatting, and data entry.

Motivated self‑starter who can take direction and execute either independently or as part of a team; strong problem‑solving skills and sound judgment.

Understands the importance of participant confidentiality and adheres to professional boundaries and standards.

Ability to handle difficult interactions and to resolve conflicts; strong de‑escalation techniques.

Demonstrates cultural humility and an ability to work effectively across cultures.

Work Environment

GLIDE’s buildings are located in the Tenderloin neighborhood; the center welcomes visitors to the community on an open‑door basis.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work at a computer and see details of objects at close range.

Ability to hear within normal range and communicate effectively (in person, telephone, or Zoom).

Finger dexterity for using standard office equipment.

Ability to sit or stand comfortably and to navigate through office spaces (via elevator or stairs).

Employment Details This is a full‑time (40 hour/week) Non‑Exempt position covered by the collective bargaining agreement. The pay range may vary by shift and will be determined based on the specific shift offered.
