Phlebotomist – Contract (potential permanent) – Job code: CVDJP00033419
Location & Schedule Greenwich, CT area (Bridgeport & Greenwich PSCs). The person must be available to cover any of the sites between 6 am and 6 pm, with a minimum of 8 hours on call during that window.
Projected Duration 3 months, with potential for permanent placement.
Job Summary Float phlebotomist responsible for venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, centrifugation, data entry, and maintaining compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles.
Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store specimens per protocol.
Ensure 100% accurate matching of requisitions to specimen tubes.
Package specimens for transport and maintain integrity.
Document specimen processing and maintenance data.
Operate laboratory computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
Answer calls and review results to address inquiries.
Attend annual department training sessions.
Qualifications
Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
Minimum 12 months of venipuncture experience in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with straight and butterfly needles.
High School Diploma or GED.
Proficient computer skills and data entry.
Expectations
Exceptional customer service record.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently or in a team.
Comfortable working under minimal supervision.
Easily available for overtime as needed.
Reliable transportation and clean driving record.
