Human Resources Supervisor – Grassi
Grassi’s client, VJ Technologies Inc., seeks an experienced, hands‑on Human Resources Generalist to manage a full spectrum of HR responsibilities for approximately 60 employees spread across four companies in nine states. The role includes benefit administration, recruitment, onboarding, timekeeping, compliance, safety, recordkeeping, training, and employee relations.
Responsibilities
Full responsibility for all HR recordkeeping, including maintaining soft and hard personnel folders, HRIS system, policy documents, and all related documentation for multiple organizations.
Share workload and supervise the Human Resources Administrator in day‑to‑day HR activities.
Work with management to fill all open positions through active recruitment and manage all associated documentation and 3rd‑party vendors.
Conduct new employee orientations covering benefits, company policies, and safety guidelines.
Handle all documentation related to new hires, terminations, transfers, and other employment changes.
Oversee the time‑keeping system for all entities.
Ensure proper administration of benefits, liaise with carriers, oversee implementation of life insurance, short‑term disability, paid family leave, and long‑term disability claims.
Provide support to employees with benefit‑related matters as needed.
Co‑manage the annual open enrollment process, updating the HRIS, overseeing online enrollment, generating and distributing materials, and coordinating with payroll and carriers.
Maintain and oversee the company’s Affluent Action Plan (AAP).
Generate regulatory filings: AAP, EEO‑1, VETS‑100, 5500 forms, and OSHA logs.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment and safety regulations.
Assist in the administration of the annual Focal Point Review Program.
Lead employee morale initiatives for applicable team members.
Ensure Bohemia, NY and East Haven, CT locations comply with workplace health & safety policies.
Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) for the companies under your purview.
Deliver compliance and soft‑skill training courses to staff at least annually.
Help employees obtain proper visas for international company travel.
Perform other HR‑related compliance and administrative duties as required.
Travel up to 10% of the time, including monthly day trips to East Haven, CT and occasional quarterly visits to other VJ locations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline.
Five to seven years of relevant HR experience in an industrial manufacturing or engineering environment, with exposure to manufacturing and engineering teams.
Experience in a small‑company setting.
Knowledge of New York State and Federal employment laws and insurance regulations.
Familiarity with OSHA workplace regulations.
Prior experience with an HRIS system.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to interact with employees at all levels, vendors, regulatory agencies, and customers.
Detail‑oriented, mature, professional demeanor with strong diplomacy.
Team‑player with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage emergencies calmly and efficiently.
Highly organized, analytical, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.
Non‑Essential Skills
Knowledge of state employment laws beyond New York and/or experience supporting employees in multiple states.
Experience in developing an Affluent Action Plan.
Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now, Deltek Replicon Timekeeping & Attendance, or TalentLMS.
Established training skills.
Experience with MS Dynamics, AX, or D365 ERP systems.
Physical & Mental Demands
Required to sit, walk, bend, and stand regularly.
Repeated use of hands for routine office equipment.
Close and distance vision required, with the ability to adjust focus.
Continuous communication via phone, email, and other electronic devices.
