Job Summary The Senior Civil Engineer supports large-scale ports and maritime infrastructure projects, delivering high-value engineering solutions for clients nationwide. This role blends technical design excellence with project leadership, client engagement, and cross‑disciplinary coordination. Working closely with local and national teams, the engineer will help expand ports and maritime capabilities, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to the successful execution of complex waterfront projects.
Key Responsibilities Technical & Design Leadership
Deliver heavy civil engineering projects including port utilities, roadway infrastructure, and stormwater management.
Lead design throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring
high‑quality engineering outcomes
aligned with design factors, budgets, and client needs.
Apply expert knowledge of engineering techniques, civil design standards, and analytical methods.
Perform quality reviews of engineering documents and technical specifications.
Project & Team Leadership
Manage diverse project tasks with support from multidisciplinary engineering, science, and technology teams.
Lead teams with a focus on accountability, organization, and detail‑driven execution.
Mentor developing engineers and contribute to professional growth across teams.
Coordinate with staff across several Global Practices to support project delivery.
Assist with managing project resources and sub‑consultants.
Client Engagement & Business Development
Build and maintain relationships with port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines, shipyards, and other maritime clients.
Support development of innovative solutions for clients and projects.
Participate in business development, including identifying new opportunities, contributing to strategy discussions, and supporting proposals.
Attend regional trade associations and professional organizations as required.
Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration
Work closely with construction, environmental, technology, planning, and stakeholder engagement teams.
Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams, translating complex engineering concepts into actionable guidance.
Provide honest assessments regarding schedule and budget impacts to inform design decisions.
Safety & Organizational Support
Promote a workplace where safety is a top priority, adhering to programs and protocols.
Participate in implementing safety and health performance standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related degree from an ABET‑accredited program
and
7 years of civil engineering experience OR Bachelor’s degree in civil or related engineering technology, FE exam completion, and 7 years of experience OR Master’s degree in civil engineering and 6 years of experience.
EPC project experience preferred.
General business and financial calculation knowledge.
Knowledge of civil engineering design guides and standards.
Proficiency with AutoCAD/MicroStation, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Expert knowledge in engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS‑CADD, RISA‑3D, MathCADD, hydraulic/hydrologic/pavement analysis tools.
Experience leading large project design efforts and delegating work.
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and quantitative problem‑solving abilities.
Strong attention to detail, collaboration, facilitation, and team‑building skills.
Ability to travel as required.
PE license preferred.
