The Senior Project Engineer will oversee and manage design projects from conception to completion. Perform engineering duties in planning and designing products, automotive components, associated product tooling, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Working closely with our customer’s engineering departments as well as our own internal engineers and shop personnel is a necessity.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Qualifications
10+ years of proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment
3+ years in project/program management with exposure to external customers
Previous experience in welding, assembly and coating operations
Strong verbal and written skills, particularly in creating reports and specifications using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
CAD software experience is essential; SolidWorks preferred. PDM experience is a plus
Desired experience in structural and/or weldment design
Ability to manage multiple design projects and priorities simultaneously
Tasks
Assist Program Managers in overseeing the engineering execution of projects
Manage technical development, scheduling, and resolve engineering issues
Perform complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks
Utilize SolidWorks and related CAD software to develop part and assembly models
Generate manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for production
Release engineering data to document control
Perform peer review of drawings and design releases
Review product design for compliance with related specifications, company standards and customer contract requirements
Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements
Provide technical assistance for production support
Collaborate with Manufacturing/Weld Engineering for design of fixtures and tooling
Study manufacturing processes to determine application of product and best way to be built considering cost and efficiencies
Integrate engineering best practices across the organization
Perform additional duties as requested and assigned
