Job Description Minimum Qualifications:

Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Specialty Nursing certifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Utilizes theoretical and evidence-based knowledge in partnering with patients and their families to assess, plan, implement and evaluate age appropriate care.

Assesses and collaborates with patient, family/significant others and other disciplines to identify outcomes based on data and diagnosis; develop care plans that consider cultural needs to enhance the health care experience.

Plans and develops individualized, outcomes-based care plans; orchestrates and validates a plan of care for each shift; facilitates interdisciplinary patient/family meetings; coordinates discharge planning with resources to ensure a seamless transition.

Implements the care plan in a safe and timely manner; documents interventions and patient responses; collaborates with colleagues to utilize evidence-based interventions and provide health teaching.

Evaluates the effectiveness of planned strategies and updates the plan of care as needed based on patient response and outcomes.

Demonstrates clinical judgment and professional practice, providing age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care and utilizing a nursing process embedded in evidence-based practice.

Performs procedures and treatments according to unit guidelines and professional standards; safely administers medications and monitors patient responses.

Maintains clinical competency with respect to technology and uses equipment safely; acts as advocate and educator for patients and families.

Participates in patient safety, quality and performance improvement activities and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes.

Facilitates communication and collaboration across disciplines; supports respectful, professional teamwork and patient-family-centered care.

May assume charge nurse functions in collaboration with unit leadership.

Promotes leadership at the bedside and contributes to unit and organizational growth through governance and ongoing professional development.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged standing/walking.

Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients and equipment.

Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.

Regular exposure to hazardous chemicals, sick patients, bodily substances, noise, and potential exposure to radiation or lasers.

Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other transmissible infections.

Contact with patients under diverse circumstances; ability to handle emergency and crisis situations; irregular hours; potential contact with hazardous materials.

Skills & Abilities

Ability to provide care to patients across the lifespan, with consideration of aging processes and cultural patterns.

Ability to care for a designated group of patients according to unit guidelines and hospital policies and procedures.

Knowledge of growth and development; ability to interpret age-specific data and communicate appropriately.

Pay Range $41.76 - $68.89
