Remote candidates may work from any of the following states: AL, AZ, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV. Remote status and location are subject to change. Relocation is not provided. Employees within a 90‑minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters must adhere to the 4‑day/no‑on‑site minimum schedule (10 am–2 pm, at least one Monday or Friday). This requirement does not apply to support specialist positions.
Job Summary & Responsibilities The Director of Retirement & Wealth Operations reports to the senior leader for SDIRA/Asset operations and manages day‑to‑day product support teams covering Private Equity Assets, Fund Custody, Private Debt, 1031 Exchanges, Traditional Assets, and Real Estate holding. Responsibilities include:
Directing day‑to‑day operations across multiple product offerings
Reviewing and approving high‑value transactions, exceptions, and other team outputs
Leading performance of multiple teams to deliver compliant, timely, and accurate client service
Establishing and enforcing policies, procedures, and controls to maximize accuracy and efficiency
Resolving significant operational issues and communicating solutions to complex problems
Developing and executing service and operational strategy supporting Inspira’s growth objectives
Managing performance metrics to identify trends and communicate results
Implementing continuous‑improvement initiatives and directing change initiatives
Leading all internal and external audit activities
Fostering a high‑performance, cooperative environment
Communicating departmental activities and issues to Senior Leadership
Other duties as assigned
Leadership Responsibilities
Ensuring teams have sufficient staff with the appropriate skills to meet Service and Operations KPIs
Monitoring teams across functions to maintain client satisfaction and quickly address gaps or impediments
Providing feedback and articulating a compelling vision aligned with Inspira’s strategic vision
Selecting, developing, and holding people leaders accountable for goals and performance
Collaborating across other Retirement & Wealth functions to align goals and activities
Preferred Qualifications Education & Experience
15+ years in the financial services industry
7+ years in leadership within financial services
Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Accounting, or Business majors preferred)
MBA preferred
Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of investments and investment management
Expert in IRAs, applicable IRS code, and prohibited transactions
Proven data and analytics capabilities that drive actionable insights
Strategic thinking with ability to manage abstract, complex matters
Visionary leadership ability
Superior analytical and problem‑solving skills with sound decision making
Exceptional management, leadership, change management, and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, listening, and collaboration skills
Confidence interacting with peers and senior team members across the company
Initiative in process improvement and automation
Advanced Excel proficiency and working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Other Requirements
Infrequent travel (15–20%) – personal transportation sometimes required
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Pay Range $105,000–$130,000 per year
