Job Overview This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients and performing anesthesia‐related duties during surgical, obstetric, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures. It includes supervising para‑professional staff, planning and coordinating anesthesia supplies and equipment, and ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Responsibilities also involve diagnosing and managing pain, providing resuscitation for critically ill patients, and supporting vital organ functions.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Two (2) years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician in an operating room environment

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs and/or assists with clinical procedures.

Assists anesthesiologist with the preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors.

Assists with induction by connecting patients to hemodynamic monitoring.

Assists and anticipates needs during invasive monitoring procedures such as arterial access, central venous access, fiber‑optic intubation, and difficult airway situations.

Prepares and sets up anesthesia equipment, monitors, and airway support for each case.

Prepares and assembles transducer lines and equipment necessary for invasive monitoring.

Sets up, maintains, and transports specialty devices used in diverse clinical areas.

Troubleshoots and corrects monitoring equipment issues.

Responds immediately to OR room calls for supplies, IV pumps, or other items during surgery.

Inventories and stocks anesthesia supplies per departmental requirements.

Maintains inventory of functioning anesthesia equipment and tracks repairs.

Stocks operating rooms, specialty carts, anesthesia carts, equipment rooms, and remote anesthesia areas with needed supplies.

Performs responsibilities for the Anesthesia Stat Lab (ASL) following JACHO guidelines and policy procedures.

Prepares and plans equipment needs for the next day’s cases.

Acts as a preceptor for newly hired Anesthesia Technicians and contributes to onboarding.

Oversees restock and maintenance of anesthesia code bags and monitors restock room needs.

Manages paper and electronic schedules (call, PTO requests, and triage of ill calls).

Assists manager with candidate review and interviewing.

Coordinates break/lunch relief and floor assignments efficiently.

Supports leadership on process improvement initiatives with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged standing or walking; ability to lift, reach, carry, push, and pull 40–50 lbs.

Reaches, stoops, bends, kneels, and crouches frequently.

Exposure to hazardous chemicals, bodily fluids, noise, possible radiation or lasers.

Regular risk of blood‑borne diseases and other transmissible infections.

Contact with patients in varied circumstances; subject to unpredictable situations.

Possible contact with hazardous materials.

Effective speaking, hearing, and telephone customer‑service skills.

Ability to perceive sounds such as ringing phones, beepers, alarms, and buzzers.

Clear near and far vision; ability to discern color alarms and instrumentation codes.

Stand or sit for eight (8) hours or the length of an assignment; lift, position, push, and transfer patients and equipment.

Skills & Abilities

Read and write sufficient to perform duties in English.

Maintain written records and navigate basic web‑based applications.

Proactive customer‑service orientation.

Knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, and infection control.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with diverse teams in a stressful operating room environment.
