Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Cancer Hematology Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute invites qualified candidates to apply for this role. In collaboration with a physician, the NP/PA manages outpatient care, oversees acute and chronic oncology treatment, provides anticipatory guidance, patient and family education, psychological and emotional support, and has prescriptive authority for Schedule II‑V controlled substances in Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

Manage therapeutic regimens for acute and chronic oncology patients.

Deliver anticipatory guidance, education, and emotional support to patients and families.

Prescribe medications, including Schedule II–V controlled substances, as authorized.

Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team and external agencies for coordinated care.

Apply critical thinking and research principles to improve quality of care and advance nursing/medical practice.

Utilize formal and informal learning opportunities to strengthen knowledge aligned with the Institute’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Provide weekend rotation coverage.

NP Qualifications

Authorization to practice in an expanded role as Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts.

Current certification from an accredited body approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.

Minimum 24 contact hours beyond generic education in pharmacotherapeutics.

Master’s degree in Nursing.

Minimum 1 year oncology nursing experience or 1 year Nurse Practitioner experience.

Oncology Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.

Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Federal DEA numbers.

Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred (OCN, AOCN, CPON, BMTCN, CPHON).

Terms and Conditions of employment for Nurse Practitioners at Dana‑Farber are governed by a collective bargaining unit through the Massachusetts Nurses Association.

PA Qualifications

Master’s degree and completion of an AAPA/NCCPA accredited Physician Assistant Studies program.

NCCPA certification and license to practice as Physician Assistant in Massachusetts.

Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses.

Complete 100 hours of CME per 2‑year employment period.

PA I: No professional experience required.

PA II: 2 years of qualifying professional experience.

PA III: 5 years of qualifying professional experience.

Pay Transparency Statement Physician Assistant: \$126K – \$283K based on relevant experience.

NP: \$125K – \$283K per year (40‑hour/week). For union nursing positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
