POSITION: Data Support Specialist I
LOCATION: Albany High Complex
JOB SUMMARY:
The Data Support Specialist 1 plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of student data across the district's Student Information System (Infinite Campus). This position provides frontline support to school and district personnel, troubleshoots system issues, facilitates end-user training, manages user accounts, and supports compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a service-oriented mindset.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered;
  2. Three (3) or more years of experience working with Student Information Systems (e.g., Infinite Campus) or in a related administrative data support role;
  3. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and data management tools;
  4. Valid Georgia driver's license (required for travel to district sites using DCSS vehicles);
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills;
  2. Knowledge of state reporting requirements in Georgia (e.g., FTE, Student Record, Student Class, etc.);
  3. Familiarity with FERPA, COPPA, and data privacy best practices;
  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision;
  5. High attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation;
  6. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ensuring data security.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for SIS users across schools and departments;
  2. Troubleshoot SIS-related issues and collaborate with technical staff to implement resolutions;
  3. Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and security settings in Infinite Campus;
  4. Support data collections and reporting cycles, including validation and submission of local, state, and federal reports;
  5. Assist with registration, withdrawals, transfers, and record maintenance to ensure accurate student data;
  6. Develop and maintain user guides, documentation, and training materials;
  7. Deliver training sessions to school-based and district personnel on SIS tools and processes;
  8. Monitor and support the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, resolving access and account issues;
  9. Participate in SIS rollovers, upgrades, testing, and implementation of new modules;
  10. Maintain logs of issues, resolutions, and user feedback for continuous improvement;
  11. Collaborate with school-based data clerks, registrars, counselors, and administrators to ensure consistent data practices;
  12. Attend district meetings to provide updates, support strategic data initiatives, and assist in planning;
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
REPORTS TO: Chief Information Officer
SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
