Skeletal Muscle Physiology and Biophysics Scientist
Boston Children's Hospital Division of Genetics and Genomics, Boston, Massachusetts, us, 02298
We are inviting applications for a Scientist position in Skeletal Muscle Physiology and Biophysics, seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or MD/PhD in Muscle Physiology or a closely related field, with a robust record of scientific publications specifically in muscle physiology and a history of successful grant fundings. We are particularly interested in candidates who specialize in skeletal muscle research and possess deep expertise in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), especially with experience working in rodent models and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC).
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and overseeing research projects focused on the cellular and sub-cellular mechanisms of skeletal muscle physiology and stem cell biology in DMD. The position also involves mentoring and supervising students, fostering their development as emerging scientists, and providing guidance on research projects. Collaboration is a key aspect of this appointment, as the Scientist will work closely with other faculty members on interdisciplinary initiatives, contributing to the advancement of research in muscle biology.
Candidates must have demonstrated their ability to secure research funding and have a proven track record of publishing high-quality scientific work. Experience in muscle stem cell biology, as well as proficiency in differentiating induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into skeletal muscle lineage, is essential. The role also requires advanced skills in microscopy for imaging immunostained mouse skeletal muscle sections and proficiency in using R coding for data analysis, particularly omics data. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective collaboration and mentorship within the team.
Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references. Please note that the application period will close 30 days after the publication of this advertisement. We look forward to welcoming a new colleague who will contribute to the growth and excellence of our research program in skeletal muscle physiology.
