Position Summary
The Certified Phone Engineer is responsible for the secure design, implementation, monitoring, and ongoing support of the City of Ozark’s enterprise phone and unified communications systems. This role supports mission‑critical municipal operations, including public safety functions, and ensures voice services are reliable, secure, and compliant with CJIS and other applicable regulatory requirements in a 24x7 operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise VoIP and phone systems, including 3CX and Yealink platforms.
Design and support secure SIP, VoIP, and call routing configurations, including voicemail, auto‑attendants, and failover.
Monitor system performance and respond to outages, security events, and service degradation.
Implement and maintain security controls for voice systems, including authentication, encryption, logging, and access controls.
Coordinate with network, firewall, and security teams to ensure alignment with WatchGuard, VLAN, and QoS configurations.
Support phone systems across multiple City facilities and provide onsite assistance as required.
Perform system updates, patches, backups, and maintain detailed technical documentation.
Participate in scheduled on‑call rotations and respond to after‑hours incidents, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
57 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise phone and VoIP systems.
Current phone or unified communications certification (e.g., 3CX Certified Engineer, Yealink, Cisco, or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience working in CJIS‑sensitive or regulated environments.
Formal cybersecurity training or certification with a working knowledge of securing voice and unified communications systems.
Understanding of network security fundamentals, including firewalls, VLANs, access control, and secure VoIP/SIP configurations.
Cybersecurity certification preferred (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GSEC, or equivalent vendor‑specific security training).
Additional Requirements
Must reside within a 30‑mile radius of Ozark, Missouri.
Must be able to work on call in a 24x7 environment.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between City facilities.
