Overview
Case Management Supervisor — NYC Administration for Children\u2019s Services (ACS). The selected candidate will be offered a salary between $70,000.00 - $80,000.00.
ACS protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community. The Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) provides services and programs for youth at every stage of the juvenile justice process, with goals to build stronger and safer communities, provide therapeutic treatment, and help youth access tools to leave the justice system for good.
DYFJ operates two secure detention facilities for Juvenile Delinquents, Juvenile Offenders and Adolescent Offenders: Crossroads Juvenile Center (Brooklyn) and Horizon Juvenile Center (Bronx). The Case Management Supervisor will oversee intake, adjustment, coordination, advocacy, planning, discharge and re-entry for youth within an assigned secure detention facility.
Responsibilities
Direct, manage, and coordinate day-to-day case management operations within a juvenile detention facility for youth pending court proceedings or as a sentence after a conviction.
Directly supervise a unit of Case Managers, administrative staff and interns; participate in orientation and in-service training development and delivery.
Oversee intake of new residents and related processes and procedures.
Conduct ongoing review of case files and progress notes.
Provide direct assistance and facilitation for youth in intake and assessment, case expediting, educational advocacy, crisis intervention, counseling, programming, mentoring, discharge, and re-entry.
Collaborate with program staff to document programming, maintain behavior management systems, and orient/coaching of staff.
Facilitate timely communication with youth, families, courts, attorneys and other systems involved in the youth7s life for current case status and permanency planning.
Attend detention and related meetings to support care planning and discharge recommendations for community reintegration.
Maintain adjustment reports, court requests, data entry, and monthly/quarterly/annual reports; ensure accessibility and usefulness for planning and evaluation.
Monitor staff performance in consultation with the Director of Case Management; address disciplinary matters as warranted.
Assist with ongoing case tracking, data collection, and reporting to identify trends and inform policy and program needs.
Minimum Qualifications
A masters degree in social work from an accredited school of social work with four years of full-time, paid professional experience in a child care setting (including two years in an administrative capacity); or
A masters degree in sociology, psychology, education, public administration or a closely related field with five years of full-time paid professional experience as described above, including two years in an administrative capacity; or
Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with two years of administrative experience in a child care setting.
