Job Summary Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Neurosurgery and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and Medical Staff Policies, and any unique ambulatory patient services this Physician Assistant (PA) position is assigned to the Neuro‑Spine practice. This APP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their "scope of practice". In general, the "scope of practice" includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office website. The CIDP approved standardized procedures are unique to each person and are unlikely to include all SPs on the list. This position may provide patient care in approved age groups and UCSF Health licensed settings. The APP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self‑direction and accountability in the development of this role within all UCSF medical center locations. UCSF Health requires all Advanced Practice Practitioners (APP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30‑60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
The salary range for this position is $96.97 - $130.49 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
Five (5) years of PA experience in an adult multi‑disciplinary surgical specialty in an outpatient setting
Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of practical experience in a surgical outpatient setting, preferably ortho or neuro spine/pain management
Able to interpret MRI images of the spine
License/Certification
Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC‑PA).
Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
Current AHA BLS.
Current AHA ACLS.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60‑90 days but can vary.
