Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Sr. SDET)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Sr. SDET) who combines strong technical depth with leadership qualities to join NinjaOne’s Analytics and Reporting Platform Team. Your expertise will mentor others, drive automation strategy, elevate engineering standards, and collaborate across teams to ensure world‑class product quality. You will demonstrate knowledge in the testing process, modern programming languages, CI/CD systems, and AI‑driven testing technologies such as TestRigor, and help build scalable, maintainable automation systems while continuously improving the SDLC and STLC processes.
Location Flexible remote work from home for candidates located in the USA within the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, WA. Hybrid options available at our physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL.
What You’ll Be Doing
Automation Development: Create software automation tests to ensure regression coverage across our products, evaluate requirements, design test scenarios, implement new testing automation, and collaborate with devs to define protocols for new features.
Technical Strategy: Provide architectural insight using current or new testing infrastructure to build best‑practice testing solutions and evangelize a testing‑first approach in the SDLC.
Quality Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct comprehensive software testing, develop and maintain accurate test plans, strategies, shift‑left testing, and ensure compliance across all platforms.
Collaboration: Partner with QA Engineers, developers, product managers and leaders across product teams throughout the SDLC to maintain quality standards.
Other duties as needed.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related technical degree (or equivalent experience).
10+ years designing, developing, and executing automated test frameworks, test strategies, and comprehensive test plans.
Strong commitment to quality engineering, automation best practices, and continuous improvement across the SDLC and STLC.
Exceptional diagnostic, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities.
Advanced programming skills in Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
Extensive experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, RestAssured, or similar tools.
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and hands‑on experience with CircleCI or TeamCity.
Experience testing APIs and distributed systems, including validating data integrity and system integrations.
Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure or GCP) and test execution at scale.
Strong understanding of Git workflows, branching strategies, and code‑quality best practices.
Hands‑on experience with AI‑driven automation, specifically TestRigor.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment, mentor junior engineers, conduct PR reviews, and drive engineering quality.
Experience with Docker containerization and DevOps concepts is preferred.
Experience with performance testing (JMeter, Gatling, or k6) is a plus.

Compensation Starting pay depends on location, market demands, experience, knowledge, and skills. For roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, or Washington, the base salary range is $110,000 to $200,000 per year. For roles based in New York, the base salary range is $110,000 to $200,000 per year.
