The Vice President (VP) of Strategic Planning is a senior executive responsible for leading the organization’s strategic business and financial planning process and long‑term financial analysis. This role is essential to driving best‑in‑class strategic planning, optimized financial performance, and data‑driven decision making across the enterprise. The VP collaborates extensively with cross‑functional leaders, including the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis, the VP of Digital Transformation, and the VP of Investment Optimization to deliver on our 3x3 commitments and long‑term planning for the firm. The VP plays a key leadership role in building a finance organization that is a trusted strategic partner, providing data‑driven insights for sustainable shareholder value and growth.

What the day will look like

Strategic Business Planning and Financial Analysis: Lead and continuously enhance the company’s business planning cycles, ensuring robust, accurate, and timely insight into revenue, costs, profitability trends and develop scenario planning that will provide strategic insights beyond the next 12 months.

Model Development for Scenario Planning: Build and maintain dynamic revenue and cost models designed to support long‑term scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and strategic decision‑making.

3x3 Execution: support head of Corporate Planning on strategic 3x3 decisions, key performance indicators, delivery against the organization scorecard, highlighting key areas of achievement and course correction against landmarks.

Partner on Quarterly Business Reviews: Proactively lead periodic reviews for the CFO against goals and develop action plans required for the organization to meet its financial objectives from a Business and Financial (P&L and Cashflow) perspective.

Board and AEC (Aon Executive Committee) Presentations: Lead the preparation of clear, concise, and impactful presentations and reports for executive leadership, board of directors, and external interested parties.

Work with the VP of Digital Transformation and other functional leaders. Encourage adoption of advanced data interpretation and graphical representation techniques across the finance organization.

Investment Optimization: Partner with VP of Investment Optimization to incorporate frameworks that connect investment decisions directly to P&L outcomes, and the long‑term view of investment contributions to the bottom line.

Industry and Competitive Insights: Partner across the team to stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities to advise on business strategy and maintain a competitive edge.

Skills and Experience That Will Lead to Success

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.

Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial modeling, business planning, or corporate analytics within sophisticated organizations.

Proven expertise in developing and implementing sophisticated analytical models and forecasting tools.

Deep proficiency with data analysis and visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, or similar).

Proven track record of leading cross‑functional teams and running large‑scale projects in a matrixed environment.

Strong business insight with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.

Outstanding communication skills, capable of influencing and engaging senior executives and other key collaborators.

High level of integrity, critical thinking, and results orientation.

Pay Transparency Laws The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $225,000 to $275,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, and may be adjusted by geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in Aon’s annual incentive plans in addition to base salary.
