Salary Annual Salary: $80,000 - $100,000
Responsibilities
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the financial accounting and reporting functions for an assigned complex portfolio of properties.
Reconcile property bank accounts, subsidiary ledgers and control accounts.
Prepare annual budget data, tax or audit work‑papers, and ensure all required regulatory/jurisdictional filings are completed.
Review property income and expenses on a monthly basis and communicate discrepancies, unusual variances, or questions to Property Managers and Management.
Review monthly operating, security deposit, and reserve bank statements and reconcilations for assigned properties and agree to respective cash balances in the general ledger.
Monitor expenses and property investments.
Prepare requested financial reports (owner requests, special reporting requirements).
Prepare and remit property’s year‑end tax and audit work‑papers and supporting documentation for external CPA firm review.
Assist property auditors in preparing year‑end audits and other required reports.
Work with Management to stabilize cash situations for financially troubled properties.
Coordinate funding of escrow and reserve accounts with the VP of Accounting.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of property accountant experience for the Property Accountant role, or at least 4 years for a Senior Property Accountant role.
CPA designation highly desirable for the Senior role.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Prior experience working with Property Management software systems, including MRI, Yardi, AvidxChange, Nexus payables, and strong proficiency in Excel.
Strong time‑management, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
