Overview Oversee all accounting operations, managing financial reporting (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow), ensuring compliance, leading the accounting team, and supporting executive financial strategy and decision-making through accurate data, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Essentially, they are the chief accountant, managing daily finance, team leadership, and ensuring financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports (monthly, quarterly, annual), and regulatory filings.

Accounting Operations:

Manage daily functions like A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger, and month/year-end closes.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Develop, monitor, and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.

Internal Controls:

Implement and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Team Leadership:

Hire, train, supervise, and retain accounting staff.

Compliance:

Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax laws, and other financial regulations.

Auditing:

Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit preparation.

Strategic Support:

Advise senior management and the CFO on financial performance, risks, and decision‑making.

Reporting Structure

Often reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Acts as the senior financial leader in organizations without a CFO.

Role Description This is an on-site, full-time role for a Financial Controller, located in Braintree/Quincy Boston area. The Financial Controller will oversee and manage financial operations, including preparing accurate financial statements, monitoring accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing financial reports, managing budgets, overseeing accounting processes, and providing strategic financial advice to leadership. The candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure the financial health and efficiency of the organization.

Qualifications

Proficiency in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements and Financial Reporting.

Strong Analytical Skills and expertise in Finance.

Solid understanding of Accounting principles and practices.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to lead and manage teams effectively.

Proficiency in financial management software.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a strong advantage.

Previous experience in the retail industry is a plus.
