Security requirements, NOAA IT Security Policies, and the NESDIS IT Security Handbook, Policies, Procedures, and Guides. This work is critical to prevent breaches, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with security protocols and data privacy laws. Perform IT Security-related tasks to comply with directives and policies for supporting audits and reporting. Coordinate all security related incidents with the NOAA Computer Incident Response Team, and the RFIMS PMO Provide required and requested information to the responsible System Owners and staff to execute sustainment activities that enable the RFIMS to continue to meet security, privacy and Authority to Operate requirements. Maintain continuous Authority to Operate/Authority to Connect and ensure that the appropriate security posture is maintained for each subsystem. Update the subsystems remotely with software patches/updates and apply the required security patches as required to ensure the appropriate security posture is maintained for each subsystem, per the applicable IT Security policies documents, or upon direction from the government Information System Security Officer (ISSO). Test software updates and patches in a test environment to verify functionality and no adverse impacts before implementation/application in the operational systems or subsystem. Provide patching releases to address Critical, High, Medium, or Low vulnerabilities to support and enable the System Owner to comply with information security policies, directives, and data calls in accordance with the deadlines stipulated by the Information System Security Officer (ISSO). Required Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. At least 5-10 years of relevant experience in IT Security. Familiarity with U.S. Department of Commerce IT Security requirements and NOAA IT Security Policies. Salary: The projected compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $167,000 per year. GST states that compensation is determined by location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements.
