We are seeking a

seasoned Head of Credit/Chief Credit Officer (CCO)

to build and lead the entire credit and risk function at a high-growth commercial real estate-focused credit enhancement platform. This startup is led by highly successful executives who have backing from top-tier institutional LP’s ranging from some of the world’s foremost PE firms, pensions, VC investors and family offices.

This is a foundational startup role requiring adaptability, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to define systems, judgment frameworks, and policies from scratch. The CCO will be instrumental in shaping the platform's credit philosophy, ensuring disciplined portfolio performance, and driving scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Strategy & Governance:

Define the overall credit risk strategy, develop the master credit policy, and set portfolio exposure limits (e.g., by product, geography, concentration). Establish a formal governance process for exceptions and escalations.

Evaluation & Decisioning:

Design the credit evaluation framework, define approval authorities, and chair the Credit Committee for larger or higher-risk transactions.

Portfolio Management & Monitoring:

Build and implement the credit risk rating system, develop early-warning triggers, and create dashboards for management/board reporting. Define approaches for restructuring and workouts of distressed exposures.

Data & Infrastructure:

Partner with engineering and product teams to build technology-enabled credit infrastructure and tooling. Define and track key credit metrics (e.g., PD, LGD, vintage curves).

Origination & Funding:

Lead deal origination activities, build external relationships to drive deal flow, and support capital raising/financing negotiations by articulating the credit strategy and controls.

Organization & Culture:

Design the structure of the credit function (evaluation, analytics, collections, special assets) and instill a credit-first culture that balances growth with risk discipline.
