Nautilus Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Underwriter for the Western US Region in Light Brokerage. This role can be located in the Scottsdale office or remote in the Western states.

Overview Senior Underwriter, Light Brokerage – Western US Region. Responsibilities include developing knowledge of the company’s appetite in this product space, supporting product launch with leadership, underwriting and communicating appetite, rate and underwriting information to pilot agents, and transitioning from a pilot launch to broader distribution.

Responsibilities

Underwrites select risks in accordance with company guidelines for acceptability and rate.

Markets, builds, and strengthens relationships with key producers within agencies to generate a flow of preferred business.

Maintains a profitable book of business through monitoring profitability, trends, and growth.

Assess agent performance based on profitability, growth, quality of submissions, bind ratios, and other KPIs.

Analyzes market conditions and provides suggestions for changes in forms, endorsements, and rates, including opportunities for market or product expansion.

Collaborates with Contract Bind production underwriting teams and Light Brokerage teammates to ensure proper placement of risks and to communicate market/agent trends and issues.

Communicates product, rate, and form changes with external customers as appropriate.

Corresponds with agents, brokers, and other interested parties to determine feasibility and marketability of new products to meet competition and increase sales.

Contributes to development and maintenance of E-Guide, web portal enhancements, and other electronic products, including notification of changes to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

Excess and Surplus lines background is highly preferred.

5+ years of experience underwriting casualty products at a senior level.

Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Strong understanding of the E&S business environment.

Ability to engage effectively with leaders across the organization.

Budgets, forecasting, and metrics knowledge.

Decision-making skills and ability to respond to high-pressure situations.

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) – intermediate to advanced; ability to learn new applications.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Willingness and ability to travel to visit agents and attend conventions as necessary.

Education

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 5+ years related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.

CPCU, IIA or other insurance-related classes recommended.
