The George Washington University . The Institute for Data, Democracy and Politics (IDDP) seeks a full‑time academic research fellow to advance evidence‑based studies at the intersection of digital technology, media, and democracy. The appointment is for a one‑year term with potential extension.

Responsibilities

Conduct behavioral social‑science research related to misinformation, persuasion, and political psychology.

Design, execute, and analyze experiments using advanced analytic tools (R, Python, or similar).

Prepare manuscripts, publish results, and represent the university at conferences and meetings.

Assist in planning independent research projects, lead new theories and methodologies, and supervise research assistants or other staff as needed.

Report to the Institute’s Co‑Faculty Director, Dr. Ethan Porter, and work under the guidance of experienced researchers.

Start date is flexible; preferred as soon as possible.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field earned by the date of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Collaborate with affiliated researchers and faculty on both broad and narrowly specified projects.

Conceptualize, design, and analyze behavioral research that supports IDDP’s mission.

Perform related duties as assigned and adapt to logical extensions of the role.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000
