Position Overview The Computer Engineer plays a key role in integrating hardware, software, and data solutions to advance HM&E cybersecurity tools and capabilities. This position supports the full lifecycle of secure system development, including requirements analysis, architecture design, and implementation of resilient software components. The engineer contributes to sophisticated data modeling efforts that enhance system awareness and decision‑making, while also executing detailed testing and validation to ensure reliability, performance, and cybersecurity compliance. Through close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, this role helps drive the deployment of mission‑critical solutions that strengthen the overall security posture of HM&E systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and modify software to support modeling, simulation, assessment, and analysis activities in alignment with SOW 3.1 requirements.

Build, query, and manage databases—including Access, SQL/NoSQL systems, CSV‑based datasets, and semantic data formats such as RDF/OWL.

Implement data interchange solutions using standards such as JSON, XML, and SysML to enable seamless system integration and interoperability.

Conduct unit and system‑level testing to validate functionality, performance, and compliance with project specifications.

Support CI/CD workflows and apply secure coding practices to ensure high‑quality, maintainable, and secure software deliveries.

Perform configuration management using Git, SharePoint, and DOORS to maintain version control, traceability, and documentation accuracy.

Required Skills and Experience

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program; OR BS in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning.

Three (3) years of professional experience within industry as an electrical/computer/software engineer or practitioner of computer/data/information sciences/computer networks; AND

Three (3) years developing software using one or more high‑level languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++); OR

Two (2) years applying Semantic Web/Linked Data technologies including at minimum: OWL and RDF; OR

One (1) or more years developing/applying ontologies to build Linked Data solutions compliant with W3C standards.

CSWF Certification (IAT Level I):

CompTIA A+

CompTIA Network+

CompTIA Security+

GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)

Ability to work effectively remotely in cross‑functional teams.

Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.

Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

Clearance Requirements U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Compensation The salary range for this position up to $69,286. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
