Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Gynecology Oncology (Full-time, Days) Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in our Gynecology Oncology department.

The salary range for this position is $61.00 - $76.25 per hour.

Essential Functions

Examine, diagnose, and treat various conditions and diseases that affect women’s health, such as infections, hormonal disorders, cancers, etc.

Perform tests and procedures, including pap smears, pelvic exams, IUD insertions, biopsies, etc.

Prescribe medications and treatments according to best practices and evidence‑based guidelines.

Educate and advise women on family planning, contraception, fertility, menopause, and other women’s health topics.

Refer patients to other specialists or services when needed.

Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and documentation.

Stay current with the latest developments and research in obstetrics and gynecology.

Participate in process improvement projects.

Demonstrate clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities.

Manage health outcomes for an assigned patient population.

Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals.

Develop educational programs for patients, families, and staff.

Mentor graduate students in advanced practice and patient care.

Participate in quality improvement and/or research in the field.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients’ health status by taking histories and performing physical examinations.

Provide direct clinical care to patients.

Prescribe and order medications, therapies, laboratory tests, x‑rays, and procedures per clinical privileges.

Evaluate patients’ need for further health care.

Provide teaching to patients and families.

Document all care and education in the medical record.

Refer to other disciplines as appropriate.

Consult in areas of expertise.

Integrate research‑based knowledge into clinical decision making.

Exemplify a professional image in appearance, manner, and presentation.

Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and community.

Maintain certifications and continuing education as required.

Serve as a patient advocate and model “Patients First.”

Participate in relevant committees or task forces.

Provide teaching strategies for patients and families.

Develop and participate in continuing education programs for staff.

Serve as a preceptor to students.

Provide formal education to internal and external groups.

Participate in quality improvement and/or research initiatives for specific patient populations.

Qualifications Required:

Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or an accredited Physician Assistant Program.

Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Illinois, or current physician assistant license in Illinois.

Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board (or equivalent for PA).

Privileged and credentialed through Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office (MSO).

BLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred:

Oncology experience.
