About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer who excels in automated testing with Playwright, Node.js, and TypeScript. This position is essential in ensuring the seamless quality of our Firefly Web Client through advanced test automation frameworks.
You will play a pivotal role in architecting quality processes and frameworks, leading cross‑domain initiatives, and influencing Adobe’s technology roadmap through thought leadership and domain expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and scale automated test suites using Playwright to ensure robust end‑to‑end coverage across web applications.
- Build and extend testing infrastructure and utilities in TypeScript, enabling efficient, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks.
- Develop and implement procedures and protocols for test automation, coverage metrics, and CI/CD integration.
- Analyze and investigate test failures, triage issues, and collaborate closely with developers and QEs to identify root causes, report defects, and verify fixes.
- Lead by example in maintaining high standards of code quality, test reliability, and operational excellence, encouraging a culture of accountability and improvement.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers on automation strategy, modern tooling, test development patterns, and debugging techniques to strengthen overall team capability.
- Build and improve internal developer tools (DevTools) to support testing, debugging, and reporting workflows.
- Add and maintain logging, monitoring hooks, and custom test instrumentation as needed.
- Write performance tests to ensure efficient speed, responsiveness, and scalability, including simulating user load, measuring page load times, and monitoring CPU/GPU/Memory usage.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering or test automation.
- Proven expertise with Playwright for end‑to‑end testing of modern web applications.
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Experience working in agile development environments and familiarity with CI/CD tools.
- Solid understanding of web technologies, browser behavior, and DOM manipulation.
- Ability to debug and analyze failures in test and production environments.
- Experience with performance testing tools, such as Lighthouse, Playwright Tracing and Metrics, and Google Chrome DevTools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Skilled in at least one mainstream frontend framework, such as React, Vue, or Lit.
- Experience with Argo, Jenkins.
- Familiarity with test reporting and analytics tools.
- Previous experience working on enterprise‑level applications.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $139,000 — $257,550 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
