Senior Network Engineer

Location: Washington, DC (Fully Onsite)

Terms: Full‑time

Clearance: Active TS/SCI

Travel: 0–20%

Position Description

Harmonia seeks an experienced Senior Network Engineer with expertise in Palo Alto Networks and Cisco technologies to support the Department of State in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge in firewall management, routing protocols, and enterprise networking, while providing leadership in technology modernization, network security, and systems integration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise network systems, including Palo Alto Networks and Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Utilize Panorama to centrally manage firewall configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide Tier‑III firewall and network support, performing advanced troubleshooting of complex security and connectivity issues.
  • Conduct technical analysis for network planning, engineering, design, and performance optimization.
  • Integrate and secure enterprise applications across interconnected systems.
  • Monitor, document, and maintain network performance, configurations, SOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of State security policies, DHS standards, and industry best practices.
  • Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, servers, SANs, and related devices.
  • Lead requirements gathering, test planning, and certification/accreditation activities.
  • Provide escalation support, training, and mentorship to junior network engineers.
  • Conduct research and development on emerging technologies to enhance the network security posture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • CCNA or CCNP certification required.
  • 8–10 years of enterprise IT systems and network administration experience.
  • Strong expertise with Cisco networking technologies (switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Hands‑on experience with Panorama and Palo Alto Networks products.
  • Proficiency in routing protocols (OSPF, static routes, VLANs, ACLs, QoS, multicast).
  • Experience with Windows OS, Active Directory, Linux, VMware, and SAN/RAID storage solutions.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing network security solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.

Desired

  • Palo Alto Networks certification (PCNSE).
  • Prior experience supporting the Department of State or other federal agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of federal compliance standards, C&A activities, and security frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead modernization projects and mentor junior engineers.
