Senior Database Engineer – Continental Finance Company
Continental Finance Company specializes in credit card options for consumers with less-than-perfect credit. We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to support our Information Technology team.
Hybrid work schedule: 3 core days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and 2 remote days (Monday, Friday).

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Snowflake, T‑SQL, and SSIS.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for data transformation and analytics.
- Implement and manage Snowflake features including SnowSQL, SnowPipe, Streams, Tasks, and Time Travel.
- Build and manage data models and data warehouses in both Snowflake and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Ensure data integrity, performance, and security across data environments.
- Work within AWS services (EC2, S3, etc.) to support our cloud‑native data infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and reliability issues.
- Develop best practices for data management, governance, and automation.
- Stay current with emerging data technologies, particularly within Snowflake and AWS ecosystems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related experience.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or database development roles.
- Strong expertise in Snowflake including SnowSQL, SnowPipe, Streams, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in T‑SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning in MS SQL Server.
- Experience developing and maintaining ETL workflows using SSIS or similar tools.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, DynamoDB, etc.) for data solutions.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data lake architectures.
- Experience with version control Azure DevOps and CI/CD for data pipelines (plus).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data processing or automation.
- Knowledge of data governance, cataloging, and lineage tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps and infrastructure‑as‑code practices (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Proficiency in MySQL and PostgreSQL is preferred.
