Salesforce is seeking a Senior/Lead Database and Application Performance Engineer to join their Core Database Performance team. This role is crucial in ensuring the performance and scalability of Salesforce's multitenant database infrastructure. The position focuses on optimizing database performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions at scale.

The Core Database Performance team is responsible for delivering high-performance, high-throughput database services while managing exponential growth in traffic and complexity. They focus on innovating and automating troubleshooting techniques and interactive analytics to enable tuning at scale and enhance proactive monitoring to prevent incidents.

This is specifically not a DBA role - all tuning and optimization happens at the application/SQL layer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SQL performance tuning, database architecture, and scalability solutions. They will work closely with development teams to design and optimize Salesforce products and collaborate with operations staff to resolve production performance issues.

• Monitor and respond to trends in Production workload performance
• Partner with Development teams to design and tune Salesforce products
• Collaborate with Operations Staff for Production performance issues
• Monitor Database Performance and usage, optimizing queries and code

Requirements For Senior/Lead Database and Application Performance Engineer

• 7+ years of solid hands on experience in SQL Performance Tuning
• Excellence in collaboration and teamwork
• Development and Maintenance of SQL, PL/SQL
• Excellent working knowledge of SQL Trace, TKPROF, Statspack, and AWR reports
• Experience troubleshooting locking issues, wait events, and hang analysis
• Experience in identifying bottlenecks for Scalability and Performance
• Experience with Database Cluster/Multi-tenant/cloud Architecture (RAC, Grid Infrastructure)
• PostgreSQL Performance Tuning experience (preferred)
