Overview
The Corporate Director of Finance plays a critical leadership role, overseeing all accounting operations for a diverse and growing portfolio — including three managed and four owned hotels, as well as joint ventures and partnerships within Insite Development Group. This individual will be a strategic partner to senior leadership, ensuring financial integrity, operational excellence, and compliance across all entities. The Director will lead a high-performing accounting team, drive process improvement, and deliver timely, accurate insights that power informed decision-making and sustained growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company policies and GAAP/USALI standards.
- Direct the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and uphold financial integrity.
- Manage external audits and internal reviews, ensuring readiness and timely responses.
- Oversee tax compliance at the federal, state, and local levels, coordinating with external advisors as needed.
- Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Provide oversight for accounts payable, receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger functions.
- Partner with operations and leadership to align financial strategy with business objectives, ensuring budget discipline and performance optimization.
- Maintain precise records for joint ventures and partnerships, including capital contributions, distributions, and allocations.
- Ensure accurate application of waterfall distribution models and joint venture accounting principles.
- Deliver actionable financial dashboards and reports to senior leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and compliance insights.
- Lead the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes to support strategic planning and growth.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA strongly preferred. Master’s degree or MBA a plus.
- Experience: 8–15 years in accounting or finance, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Experience in real estate accounting, REITs, and joint ventures (with waterfall distributions) is highly desirable. Hotel or hospitality industry experience is a plus.
- Accounting Mastery: Deep understanding of GAAP, USALI, and complex joint venture accounting.
- REIT Expertise: Proven experience in financial reporting, compliance, and portfolio oversight.
- Internal Controls: Demonstrated ability to design and enforce strong control frameworks.
- Leadership: Inspiring and effective people leader who drives accountability and engagement across teams.
- Audit & Reporting: Hands-on experience managing external audits and producing audit-ready financials.
- Analytical Precision: Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and insight.
- Technology Proficiency: Skilled in modern accounting systems (Sage, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.) and advanced Excel capabilities.
- Communication: Strong communicator who can translate complex financial concepts into actionable business insights.
Compensation
Base pay range: $150,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr
