$150,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of Position: Under direction of the Director of Mental Health, develops, plans, directs, coordinates, monitors and evaluates health care services in areas such as mental health, substance use, forensic mental health, quality assurance and utilization review to ensure delivery of quality care and medical services. Formulates, develops methods and procedures for monitoring, evaluating, and operating mental health programs and services in assigned areas of responsibility. Monitors and coordinates review processes of assigned mental health services to determine if programs are meeting health care needs, objectives, and goals established by the Mental Health Services Department. Participates in the development of policies, standards, rules and regulations pertaining to mental health services. Provides advisory, consultative services to System, health care settings and their staff. Maintains liaison with community agencies and professional organizations on matters affecting mental health programs. Reviews city, state, and federal regulations in connection with compliance. Reviews and advises pertinent personnel on improving programs for full compliance. Prepares special reports, studies, and budgetary estimates. Advises Director on policy and procedural changes, community problems, utilization, development of staff, implementation of productivity goals; makes recommendations for improvement in mental health services. Supervises staff assigned to departmental activities and provides professional direction. Participates in staff meetings and conferences; attends meetings with key leadership officials and external representatives. Provides advisory, consultative services in connection with development of grant proposals. Implements administrative policies and procedures based on standards of professional review organizations. Performs related duties, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a health care setting or regulatory agency administration, with an emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services; one (1) year of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity. Special Note:
Effective 4/1/2025, all new appointments and promotions into the title of Associate Director of Mental Health will require a license in the assigned area of practice. Preferred License And Experience
LCSW, LMHC or PH.D. 5+ years supervisory/managerial experience in Behavioral Health intensive service setting Department Preferences
Administratively responsible for the Woodhull Adult and Child Outpatient Mental Health Divisions (Comprised of the Adult and Child OPD clinics, and the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program) Provide Administrative direction to the Woodhull Adult and Child Outpatient Mental Health Division through collaboration with the Director of Service, Clinical Providers, Clinical Supervisors, Facilities Support Services, regulatory and accreditation bodies, and other external stakeholders. In collaboration with Vice Chair and AED, direct Woodhull Adult and Child Outpatient Mental Health Divisions in the development, coordination, and implementation of the service activities, policies and procedures, and preparation for audits/surveys by NYSOMH, the TJC, and NYC-DOHMH. Provide Administrative and supervisory guidance to administrative staff in the Woodhull Adult and Child Mental Health Divisions. Monitor access, efficient patient flow, and clinical services provided in the Woodhull Adult and Child Outpatient Mental Health Divisions. Plan, prepare, and implement performance improvement initiatives for service areas. Coordinate ongoing utilization review, monitor staff compliance with mandatory training, coordinate annual patient satisfaction survey, monitor implementation and compliance with corrective action plan recommendation by internal audits and external regulatory agencies. Provide backup to the Associate Executive Director as directed. Coordinates the support & administrative services of the Department to ensure that there is a smooth interface between the service and other services within the department and other ancillary departments. Ensure collection, analysis, and preparation of data and reports for monthly and/or quarterly submission to the departmental Performance Improvement Committee (PIC). Review and update policies and procedures annually and present them for approval and implementations by the Department's Associate Executive Director and Chief of Psychiatry. Develop and update Division/Program's brochure and description. Develop and submit annual program evaluation in collaboration with the Director of the Divisions. Act as liaison to other hospital departments concerning the Woodhull Adult and Child Outpatient Mental Health Divisions. Ensure the maintenance of the Woodhull Adult and Child Outpatient Mental Health Divisions through effective management of the environment of care, equipment, and supplies. Oversees the billing & registration administrative services of the Department to ensure that there is a smooth interface between the services and Managed Care Organizations. Oversee and develop supervisors of day-to-day operation of the billing, registration and reception services, and clerical area Staff. Responsible for monitoring compliance with Human Resources requirements. Responsible for in-service training of all newly hired staff for the Department of Psychiatry; ensure compliance with mandated trainings. How To Apply
