Team Overview
Morningstar’s Corporate Finance team plays an essential role in supporting our company’s strategic initiatives, day‑to‑day operations, and long‑term financial health and growth. The Corporate FP&A team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analyzing the company’s financial results. We work collaboratively with senior leaders, business finance partners, and international teams to support strategy and growth initiatives and help make informed business decisions.
Role
As a Senior Financial Analyst in Corporate FP&A, you will work closely with stakeholders across the business to resolve financial issues and drive value with timely and accurate forecasting and reporting. You will support central function initiatives, collaborate on long‑term planning, build relationships with senior management, and work on special projects as necessary. This position reports to the Director of Corporate FP&A and is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to various central functions with budgets, forecasts, performance analysis, financial modeling and alignment with our long‑term strategic plan.
- Support allocation of budgets to the business, helping units and leaders understand drivers behind changes.
- Collaborate across all businesses and regions to ensure consistency of FP&A processes with central requirements.
- Support the Financial Reporting team and Investor Relations in the quarterly and annual reporting process, on a case‑to‑case basis.
- Perform financial modeling for central functions and provide insightful analysis for decision‑making.
- Identify risks and opportunities and develop mitigation plans in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Track and evaluate consistency in KPIs and financial reporting across central functions, enabling greater visibility and performance monitoring.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; MBA/CPA/CFA a plus. Coursework should include finance, accounting, business, economics, data science, or STEM.
- Minimum of 2‑4 years of experience in corporate finance or business partnership/analysis roles.
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills to influence decisions and outcomes.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work well on large and small cross‑functional teams.
- Proven ability to build relationships with team members, business leaders, and other internal functions.
- Very strong Microsoft Excel skills; knowledge of Oracle/Hyperion, Workday, Workday Adaptive Planning, Salesforce, Tableau, and/or PowerBI is preferred.
- Experience with Python, R, SQL and related technologies is a plus.

Total Cash Compensation Range
$95,275.00 – $161,975.00 USD annually (inclusive of base salary and target incentive).
Work Environment
Morninstar’s hybrid work environment offers flexibility: four days in‑office each week, with tools and resources to engage meaningfully with global colleagues.
