Description & Requirements
With around 50 economists and 200 economics and government reporters worldwide, Bloomberg has an outstanding capacity to explain where the world is economically and politically, where it might be heading, and the ways in which geopolitical and economic forces interact.
Bloomberg Economics offers a comprehensive macroeconomic research service for Terminal subscribers. That includes detailed forecasts, supported by thorough and original thematic research.
We are seeking a forward‑thinking macroeconomist specializing in the economics of innovation, with a focus on artificial intelligence. You will need to help build and inspire change within the AI industry. The selected candidate will work closely with country desks, geoeconomics teams, and industry experts to analyze how the development and diffusion of AI and other frontier technologies will impact the global economy.
We’ll Trust You To
- Lead research on the macroeconomic impact of new technology and supervise global trends in AI innovation and diffusion, to evaluate their impact on efficiency, labor markets and investment.
- Integrate your insights into Bloomberg Economics’ long‑term forecasts and work with country desk economists to embed your findings in their analysis.
- Partner with Bloomberg Intelligence industry specialists to build expertise on AI value chains and their effects on trade and competitiveness.
- Work with our geoeconomics team to explore the interactions between AI, domestic policies and geopolitics, and their implications for the macroeconomic outlook.
- Publish high‑quality analysis on the Bloomberg Terminal and share research on Bloomberg media, at speaking events, and in conversations with clients.
You’ll Need To Have
- Degree or equivalent experience in economics, ideally focusing on innovation economics. A PhD would be a plus.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong understanding of emerging patterns of AI development and applications and their macroeconomic impact.
- Strong writing, communication and teamwork skills.
- English proficiency.
- Energy and the initiative to provide a consistent flow of original, high‑quality analysis and to operate in a fast‑paced, multifaceted environment.
We’d Love To See
- Relevant publications on the economic factors behind AI diffusion, or other areas related to innovation economics.
- Experience of working with Python or other programming languages.
- Experience generating content across a variety of formats, ranging from rapid turnaround responses to events to longer‑term collaborative research.

Salary and Benefits
Salary Range = $145,000 - $195,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus. The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
