Position Summary

As a Medical Assistant/Certified Phlebotomist, you will provide comprehensive patient care support, including specimen collection, vital sign monitoring, basic laboratory testing, and assistance during medical examinations. You will maintain accurate records, support infection control protocols, and collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure high‑quality patient care.

Essential Job Duties

  • Greet patients professionally in person or by phone and provide courteous assistance.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, including arranging gowns and positioning in the exam room.
  • Verify patient information, obtain medical history, perform vital sign checks, and confirm visit purpose.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times.
  • Support healthcare providers during exams and procedures.
  • Collect laboratory specimens, perform basic on‑premises laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Administer medications, authorize drug refills, and perform blood draws and other specimen collection procedures according to established protocols.
  • Prepare patients for x‑rays and conduct electrophysiology tests such as ECGs, audiometry, spirometry, and fit testing.
  • Assist with workers' compensation, first aid, drug screenings, and alcohol collections.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of all collections and test results.
  • Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and communicate results to patients and providers.
  • Manage inventory, place orders, verify receipt of supplies, and support clinic logistics.
  • Travel to multiple work sites as required and maintain equipment setup/cleanup.
  • Perform other duties as assigned while demonstrating motivation, reliability, and punctuality.

Requirements

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certificate (preferred).
  • Certified Phlebotomy Professional.
  • BLS certification with CPR/AED proficiency.

Education and Skills:

  • Completion of a medical assistant coursework from an accredited program.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in an occupational health setting preferred.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Available to travel and work a flexible schedule as required.

Physical Demands

The position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 pounds, performing repetitive tasks, and maintaining good visual acuity for reading and recording information. Candidates must be able to bend, kneel, and reach while handling equipment and may work in confined spaces.

Salary

$25.00–$28.00 per hour
