Director of Business Development
Location: Arlington, VA (Hybrid) Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to drive federal growth across Civilian and DoD markets. This role is ideal for a hands‑on BD leader who thrives in a small business environment and brings strong sales, capture, and contracting expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Lead business development, capture, and proposal efforts for Federal Civilian and DoD opportunities. Build and grow a book of business; identify, qualify, and pursue new contracts. Develop and manage pipeline strategy using tools like GOVWIN, C2P, FPDS, and SAM. Build relationships with government customers, primes, subcontractors, and teaming partners. Oversee proposal development, manage a Proposal Manager, and drive win strategies. Collaborate with operations, finance, contracts, and executive leadership. Evaluate contract vehicles, competitive landscape, pricing inputs, and teaming strategies.
Qualifications
8+ years of Federal BD/capture experience with a track record of wins. Sales experience working with government contractors. Experience supporting companies $20M+. Background in physical security or cybersecurity preferred. Strong understanding of contract vehicles (BPA, IDIQ, GWAC, FSS, etc.) and procurement processes. Experience in small business GovCon environments. Bachelor's degree in Business, or related field. Familiarity with GOVWIN, C2P, SAM, FPDS, USA Spend. Strong communication, leadership, and relationship‑building skills.
