Senior Technical Accountant - Audit & IPO Readiness
About the role
Our client, a high-growth manufacturing company, is hiring a Senior Technical Accountant - to focus on Audit & potential IPO Readiness to anchor internal technical accounting and elevate audit readiness. This role is built for someone who enjoys translating complex guidance into clear, practical steps, partnering closely with the accounting team, and shaping the controls and disclosures needed for public-company standards.
Key responsibilities
Audit coordination:
The Senior Technical Accountant serves as the point person for external auditors-owning PBC lists, walkthroughs, and timely responses while reducing audit friction. Technical accounting memos:
Research, write, and review
GAAP/SEC memos on revenue, leases, stock comp, impairments, and other judgment areas, ensuring documentation is thorough and decision-ready. Policy and controls:
As a Senior Technical Accountant design and refine accounting policies, align internal controls to SOX expectations, and partner with the accounting team to operationalize them. Public-company reporting:
Prepare and polish
financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A-style materials; help build the cadence and quality bar for board-level and investor-ready materials. Issue resolution:
The Senior Technical Accountant triages complex issues, proposes pragmatic solutions, and drives timely alignment across stakeholders. Internal presentations:
Turn technical topics into clear, visual presentations
for leadership and cross-functional partners-making the "why" behind the guidance easy to understand. Process improvement:
Identify bottlenecks, automate repeatable tasks, and create checklists and templates that raise consistency and speed across monthly and quarterly close. IPO/public readiness:
Support readiness assessments, gap remediation, and the discipline required for life as a public company.
Senior Technical Accountant Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred. Experience:
5+ years in public accounting (Big 4 or large regional ideal) with direct technical audit experience; manufacturing or capital-intensive environments a plus. Technical depth:
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX-aligned controls; comfortable owning memos and guiding complex judgments. Tools:
Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel; experience with documentation and workflow tools that streamline audits. Communication:
Senior Technical Accountant who can simplify complexity, write crisply, and present confidently to internal stakeholders. Mindset:
