Director of Battery Manufacturing & Operations

A rapidly scaling battery tech company is hiring a Director of Battery Manufacturing & Operations to lead pilot-line cell production and transition next‑generation Li‑ion/Li‑metal technology from R&D to manufacturable product.

Role Overview

• Lead pilot‑scale cell manufacturing (pouch, EV, ESS).
• Build pilot lines, set SOPs, and define QA/QC and production standards.
• Drive scale‑up from lab concepts to production‑ready cells.
• Own NPI execution using DFMEA/DVP&R.
• Manage technical customer programs and product validation.
• Bridge R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.

Requirements

• PhD or advanced degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or similar.
• Senior experience in cell manufacturing, pilot operations, or process engineering.
• Strong Li‑ion / Li‑metal chemistry and manufacturing expertise.
• Proven background in NPI, scale‑up, and quality systems.
• OEM‑facing experience on technical roadmaps.

Nice to Have

• Materials scientist who transitioned into operations leadership.
• Experience with EV OEMs or top battery manufacturers.

Location: Boston, MA

Salary: $245,500.00 - $392,500.00
