Base Pay Range The monthly salary for this part‑time position is $5,448.10 to $7,223.30.

To facilitate the successful reintegration of the individuals in our care back to their communities equipped with the tools to be drug‑free, healthy, and employable members of society by providing education, treatment, rehabilitative, and restorative justice programs, all in a safe and humane environment.
CDCR and CCHCS strive to collaborate with the community to enhance public safety and promote successful community reintegration through education, treatment and active participation in rehabilitative and restorative justice programs. Incumbents establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the department, other governmental agencies, health care partners, and communities.

Part Time – 7/10 Time (.70), working 28 hours per week.

Leave Program (PLP 2025) Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces each base salary by 3 percent and provides 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part‑time employees receive the same adjustments on a prorated basis.
Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Receiver’s Medical Executive, the Optometrist, Correctional Facility, conducts examinations of the eye using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity and perception, focus, and coordination to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities for the patient. Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid license to practice optometry in the State of California.
Two years of experience in the practice of optometry.
Training and Development A Training and Development (T&D) assignment will not be considered at this time.
