Overview As the GIS Project Team Lead GIS Senior System Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in geodatabase administration for the NRG (O&R Mapping System) to GIS Migration. You will lead the team through successful database and data model building exercises, utilizing geoprocessing tools for data manipulation and management within a geodatabase. Your responsibilities include optimizing geodatabases, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining a high level of system performance. Responsibilities
Geodatabase Maintenance: Perform geodatabase compression operations, use geoprocessing tools for data manipulation, and implement versioning and reconciliation processes.
Geodatabase Administration: Administer geodatabases via ESRI ArcCatalog, manage access and privileges, create and update feature classes, and maintain replication processes.
Communication and Collaboration: Lead team members, foster communication between technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and ensure project progress is transparent.
Collaboration with DBA Group: Work with the DBA group to integrate geodatabases with overall database strategies and triage requests efficiently.
Geometry Repair: Implement processes to address data inconsistencies and maintain spatial accuracy.
Posting and Publishing: Execute posting processes to update versions and publish data for broader access.
Tracing and Modeling: Conduct data tracing and modeling to analyze spatial relationships and optimize data structure.
Workshop Participation: Actively contribute in workshops, shaping database hygiene and influencing key data model and configuration decisions.
Documentation: Create, maintain, review, and approve documentation related to GIS mapping processes, business rules, workflow optimization, and data migration.
Decisive Sign‑Off: Sign off on data models, configuration, and migration documents, demonstrating decisiveness.
Required Education / Experience
Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience.
Master's Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience.
Preferred Education / Experience
Master's Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience with ArcFM.
Relevant Work Experience
Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
Exceptional document review skills, providing insightful comments to enhance project documentation.
Decisiveness in signing off on requirements, functional specifications, and component specifications related to database management.
High‑level understanding of databases, focused on geodatabases.
Proficiency in ESRI ArcCatalog for geodatabase administration.
Experience providing access and privileges to geodatabase users (preferred).
Knowledge of geoprocessing tools, versioning, reconciliation, and geodatabase compression (preferred).
Familiarity with geodatabase replication processes, geometry repair, and spatial data accuracy (preferred).
Proven experience in GIS database management, especially in electric and gas utility operations (preferred).
Strong understanding of GIS applications and technologies (preferred).
