Director - Consumer Risk (Finance)
Position Purpose: This role works in partnership with the Managing Director - Enterprise Risk & Commercial Banking, Chief Credit Officer, and Chief Banking Officer to ensure consumer lending products and underwriting standards align with Bank Policy, Fair Lending regulations, and safe and sound lending practices. Role responsibility includes consumer loan approval authority which will be utilized to evaluate/adjudicate consumer loans according to the Bank's Credit Policy. In addition, the position may participate in the analysis of credit relationships, underwriting, annual reviews, and overall consumer portfolio management.
Primary Responsibilities
Evaluate/adjudicate consumer loans according to the Bank's Credit Policy and fully review consumer loans greater than approval limit to offer endorsement to the Chief Risk Officer for review/approval.
Assist Risk Management and the Chief Banking Officer in ensuring new and existing consumer lending products align with Bank Policy, Fair Lending regulations, and safe and sound lending practices.
Coordinate with the Managing Director - Enterprise Risk & Commercial Banking to streamline the consumer underwriting, adjudication, and portfolio management processes, including third party systems, in-house templates, and proprietary risk rating scorecards.
Communicate with Bankers to discuss new and existing loan relationships.
Work with Bankers to foster consistency in the analysis of customers' creditworthiness and cash flow to determine adherence to Bank's credit requirements.
Review credit files and coordinate with portfolio managers / underwriters / lenders to assist in preparation for internal and external audits.
Prepare periodic Loan Committee/Board reports and analyses on consumer loan segments of the loan portfolio as necessary, for the benefit of supervisory agencies and executive officers.
Assist with other projects and strategic revenue initiatives as requested.

Ensures appropriate due diligence is exercised in credit applications, underwriting, maintenance of files, credit bureau reporting and other processes.

Required
Bachelor's Degree and at least 10 years commercial banking experience.
Lending, compliance, and audit related training.
Strong computer skills.
Communication skills.
Excellent reading, writing, grammar, and mathematical skills.
Understanding of State and Federal laws governing Consumer lending.
Preferred
10 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience.
Extensive experience in Consumer underwriting.
Historical experience with consumer loan origination platforms
High capacity for learning and articulating ideas.
